While these resilient marsupials have survived for millennia, they're now struggling to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape.
With koalas officially listed as Endangered in Queensland, a SEQ-wide habitat restoration project is helping their preservation and long-term survival. Healthy Land & Water is delivering the Queensland Government-funded Restore & Reconnect: SEQ Koala Habitat initiative, a $3.5 million investment in the future of one of Australia's most iconic species over 3 years.

Not long ago, I grabbed my camera and teamed up with Indigo – Environmental Project Officer, and Tom – Team Leader, to check out how the koalas are doing on one of our project sites in the Grandchester region after some serious habitat restoration work.
Ensuring the success and longevity of flood-affected vegetation doesn’t just happen by accident! At Healthy Land & Water, we undertake numerous revegetation projects to enhance flood resilience in disturbed areas that are prone to flooding. With the region impacted by significant weather off the back of ex-TC Alfred, our project managers have put their heads together to come up with what they see as the four critical elements that have contributed to the resilience of our sites.
